TENNESSEE STATE LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM (TSLRP)

TSLRP provides educational loan repayment to qualified primary care professionals in exchange for an initial 2 year service obligation. Eligible participants in good standing may reapply after fulfilling the initial 2 year service commitment in 1 year amendments as long as they have outstanding loans to repay. The total maximum service commitment is 5 years.


Maximum loan repayment amounts are $35,000 per year for physicians and dentists and $25,000 per year for advanced practice nurses and physician assistants.

Practitioners must provide direct patient care on a full‐time basis in an outpatient ambulatory public or nonprofit private site located in a federally designated Health Professional Shortage Area * (HPSA).

*A Health Care Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) is a geographical area, population group, public or nonprofit private medical facility, or public facility determined by the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services to have a shortage of primary health care and dental health professionals. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and awards approved until all funds are committed.
