   Volunteer State Health Plan (VSHP) Rate Reduction


Volunteer State Health Plan, the TennCare MCO subsidiary of BlueCross, is reducing the rates paid to certain specialists and hospitals in the East and West Grand Regions of Tennessee as part of an effort stem operating losses associated with the program. The rate reductions go into effect February 1, 2010. Primary care physicians are not included in the action. VSHP defines primary care to include pediatrics, family medicine, internal medicine, general practice and obstetrics/gynecology.
